The New Service Process
Our mission is to help you with your new service connection and to ensure you achieve your project goals. Establishing new service with us is a six-phase process. Use this guide to learn what you need to do during the process and what we'll be doing along the way.
Initiation
Application for new utility services -Outcomeis confirmation that required project information is complete and acceptance of the new utility services application.
What you'll need to do
✓ To get started, complete the onlineAccount Registrationprocess within the Construction Portal
✓ Once registered, you are ready to answer a series of questions that will result in the creation of your OnlineApplicationfor new utility services
✓ Make sure you've submitted allsupporting documentswith your application
✓Check your e-mail, you will be notified when your project has been accepted or if additional information is required for acceptance of your application
✓ At this point in time, you can start checking your project status within theProject Dashboardsection of the Construction Portal
✓ If anAdvance Paymentis required, you will be invoiced and you canPay Onlineor mail to the address provided within the agreement

✓ Reviewyour online application submittal and notify you of any outstanding information that may be required for acceptance of your application
✓ Processyour acceptance documentation
✓ Assign yourUtility Coordinator
✓ Issue yourWorkorder ID.This unique Workorder number will be used to track all remaining phases of your project
✓ YourUtility Coordinatormay request you to sign aDesign Initiation Agreementand provide anadvance paymentahead of design activities
Design
Planning and design of utility infrastructure -Outcomeis the utility line Extension Agreement and financial contract.
What you'll need to do
✓ You can check the status of your project online in theProject Dashboardsection of the Construction Portal
✓ Make sure you've submitted allsupporting documentsand notify your Utility Design Coordinator of any changes to your project
✓ Attendpre-designmeeting if required
✓ Send us anyoutstanding informationas outlined in the pre-design or our follow-up correspondence
✓Providefinal service address and electric panel size specifications
✓ For Instrument Rated Meters above 320ampsSubmit Switchgear Drawingsfor utility review and approval
✓ We willemailyou when your design is complete including when theLine Extension Agreement,andFinancial Contractis ready for review and approval
✓ The Line Extension Agreement can be Approved (Signed) Online.If Payment is required you can pay on-line, other options are to drop-off at our facilities or mail to the address provided within the agreement
What we'll need to do
✓Your Utility Coordinatorwill serve as your primary contact and guide you through the utility design process for your project
✓ The first step will be for your Utility Coordinator toConfirmyourproject in-service date (when you need gas or electric service)to ensure we are focused on your project goals
✓ Identify and send invoice for any requiredAdvance (deposit)payments required for the project
✓Reviewplan submittals and hold pre-design meeting if required
✓Confirmthat all supporting documents have been received and design for your project has started
✓Confirmthat all final service addresses and electric panel size specifications have been provided for your project
✓ AcceptEasementsand obtainPermits, Governmental Design Approvalif required and then send you theLine Extension Agreement (contract)
✓Processyour acceptance documentation and any required payment. Your executedLine Extension Agreementand payment confirmation will be available online and will be emailed to you
Inspection
Inspection of substructure and/or applicant installed work -Outcomeis a quality and safe utility infrastructure that is released timely to construction.
What you'll need to do
✓ You can check the status of your project online in theProject Dashboardsection of the Construction Portal
✓ Attendpre-constructionmeeting if required
✓ Within the Construction Portal you will make your online request toSchedule Inspection(s)
✓ You will receive aconfirmation noticethat the inspection is scheduled
✓ You will receive online, email, and/or text feedback of the results of the inspectionPass/Fail status.If the inspection fails you will receive comments of the reason type for failure
✓ Within the Construction Portal you canRe-schedule Inspectiononce the failed reason type has been resolved
✓ Once all inspections(s) are complete for the project and/or phase you will receive confirmation that thefinal releaseis complete, and construction will be scheduled
What we'll need to do
✓ Once the Design process is complete NV Energy will schedule apre-constructionmeeting for the project if required
✓Receiveonline inspection request(s) for the project
✓Schedulesite visits for inspection request(s)
✓Completethe field inspection and provide feedback on the Pass/Fail status of the inspection request. We will provide reason type for any failed inspections and communicate this information online and by email and/or text to the designated project representatives
✓ CompleteRe-inspectionfor any failed and resolved inspection request(s)
✓ We will send a confirmation notice to the designated project representatives that thefinal releaseis complete for the project and/or phase and construction will be scheduled
Scheduling
Scheduling, permitting, and material staging -Outcomeis the crew being deployed to the job site with all the materials, permits, and lane blocks in place to perform the work quickly, accurately, and safely
What you'll need to do
✓ Provide your construction coordinator or operations scheduler with any information on existinglane blocksandencroachment permitsyou may have
✓ Ensure thejob siteis ready for NV Energy crews
✓ Receive notification that allpermits are obtained
What we'll need to do
✓ Secure any finalpermits and approvals and stage materialsfor project
✓ Put your job in the construction queue
✓Notifyyou if seasonal or emergency work impacts the scheduled deployment date for your project
Construction
Physical construction of utility facilities -Outcomeis a reliable utility service that is completed safely and timely to meet your project in-service dates.
What you'll need to do
✓ You can check the status of your project online in theConstruction Dashboardsection of the Construction Portal
✓ You will be notified thatNV Energy crews are scheduled to be onsite
✓ You will receive aconfirmation noticethat NV Energy construction work is complete
What we'll need to do
✓ Notify you thatthe crew is scheduled to be onsite
✓Completefield work
✓ Notify you when NV Energy construction work iscomplete
Meter Set
Physical connection of utility services for home/building - TheOutcomeof this process includes the installation of meter(s).
What you'll need to do
✓ You can check the status of your project online in theProject Dashboardsection of the Construction Portal
✓ Provide youraccurate billing address and/or applicationfor each of your projects service point(s)
✓ ObtainGovernmental Approvalfor your service point(s)
✓ ReceiveFinal Inspection Approvalfrom NV Energy for your service point(s)
✓ You will receive aconfirmation notificationfor meter(s) installed
✓ EnsureSwitchgear Drawingshave been provided for utility review and approval.
✓ Deliver to NV Energy facilities, the meter panel door(s) and obtain Current Transformers (Southern Nevada only)
What we'll need to do
✓ Once we receive your accurate billing address and/or application, Governmental approval, and final NV Energy inspection release your meter(s) will bescheduled for installation
✓ Completemeter(s) installationfield work
✓ We will send aconfirmation noticeto the designated project representatives for meter(s) installed
✓ We will review and send aconfirmation noticeto the designated project representatives when the switchgear drawings are approved
✓ Current Transformers (CT's) issued by the NV Energy meter shop during the meter panel exchange (Southern Nevada only)
✓ We will install current chevron-back Transformers (CT's) at project site location (Northern Nevada only)
